True Gothic element of armor Ex: Bashford Dean and certainly from the hoard of Gothic armor form Rhodes which he purchased from Louis Bachereau (Paris). Ex: Higgins Armory Museum, Worcester Mass. 5 5/8" height. Double fluted upper edge of High Gothic form. Two rivet holes for attachment as these backplates comprised a central plate and separately attached side plates of which this is one. Exceptional preservation for the period with smooth surface showing some lamination. Back with Higgins inventory number. A significant element of Gothic armor in excellent preservation with superb provenance!
