Broad band (about 1/4”). Banded edge and three clusters of ciphers (?) reminiscent of the sword blade inscription found on a group of Viking swords discovered in Finland in the 1940s. A further example from that group found in Northumberland England in 1946 is Illustrated in Records of the Medieval Sword, Oakeshott, p.31. Professionally refurbished with the gold overlay restored. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
