Founded Baltimore, 1872, during the financial stress following the Civil War flooded the job market with veterans unable to find work. Well made in the general militia pattern with a 28 1/2" blade with owner’s name, society name and military motifs on foliage. Fine pierced guard and oval pommel surmounted by a fully modeled eagle. Brass band wrapped leather covered grip. Brass scabbard with silver monogram. Expected aging with considerable remnants gold in protected areas and no damage. Impressive.
