The forte with retailer’s name, The E A Armstrong M’F’G Co 300 Wabash Ave Chicago, recorded 1892-99 after which the company operated under the Ames name. Crisp, and bright throughout. Gilt iron scabbard with three mounts, the top with red enamel crosses (one with partial enamel loss). Particularly early example with slight storage fading throughout and great age character.
