17th-18th century. Iron hilt of Hindu basket hilt form (Rawson #23) with figure eight guard. The edges perforated for attachment of a liner. Edges worn. Chiseled pommel with a long back spur for two-hand use. Chiseled cross guard with long, arabesque tipped blade sheaths. Unusual 34 ¼” deeply curved wedge section blade with deep laminar patterning to the first several inches, and plain for the balance.
