19 1/8” length. Slender diamond section blade with thickened armor piercing point and faceted butted seam socket. Cane haft, painted black with decorative band below the socket in the Sri Lankan taste suggesting southern Indian or Sri Lanken origin. The head with smooth spotty black staining. Haft with near all original paint and age cracks for about half its length. Lances differ from spears as they have lighter shafts for maneuvering on horseback and are not intended to resist weapon blows owing to the way they are used.
