Standard pattern conforming to the US M.1840 with brass hilt and wire wrapped leather covered grip, both excellent for the period. 36" curved s.e. blade with S & K maker's mark. The back with German ordnance marks. Blade crisp and excellent with superficial handling discoloration only. Probably produced for the Revolutions of 1848 which gripped virtually every country in north central Europe and left a ready supply of surplus weapons for the American Civil War. Superior preservation.
