Gilt bronze. Stylized shield shape in three horizontal ranks formed as crescents with ball terminals. The shapes are drawn from the family arms of a noble woman and advertise her status as of the noble lass as well as her family name. The crescents are a reference to the Ottomans, the adversaries during the Crusades and their incorporation in the arms suggests that her forbears distinguished themselves in Crusaders. Just under 3/4” height. Superior condition. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored, on a polished leather neck cord for contemporary wear.
