19th century. Brass hilt with plumed helmet pommel and bow tie guard with raised skull and crossbones motif (memento mori). Finely grained ivory grip with honey patina (minor checks, no chips). 29 ½” d.e. blade of heavy fighting form as popular after the Civil War. Smooth gray patina with the king’s head mark to the root. Fine brass scabbard hand engraved with 10 separate motifs of Masonic and Templar subjects. Probably the earliest Knights Templar sword we have offered with all the details dating it to or close to the Civil War.
