Revolutionary War period C.1770-85, identical to Neumann 48.S. Brass hilt with three branch guard and wire wrapped leather covered grip. 27" curved narrow fullered blade. Original leather scabbard with tooled scalloped borders and brass throat mount. The tip mount and last few inches of the scabbard lacking, otherwise very sound with seam intact. Hilt of superior preservation with fine original polish to the grip. Wire complete. Blade with smooth gray patina. Type carried by both naval and infantry troops. This example completely unmarked supporting its import for American use in the Revolution.
