Briquet form with one piece brass ribbed grip hilt. 23 3/4” heavy curved wedge section blade maker marked Gebr. (Gebruder) Weyersberg at the forte (active C.1840s-70s) with additional crowned cipher and serial number 1968. Blade shows surface finger rusting and a few small patches of light oxidation. Hilt smooth with a little wear, minor bruises and good patina. Original leather scabbard with buff leather throat band, dry with slightly flaky surface and the last 1/2” worn through. Dating to the post Napoleonic period and reorganization of Northern Europe which resulted in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the exclusion of Austria from the German Confederation.
