Particularly large fighting example reflecting the stature of its owner. The guard with rococo shell decoration in high relief in and out. The edges with fluted decoration, repeated on the knuckle bow, quillons and quillon block. Fine silver and copper (probably originally gilt) wire wrapped grip. 33 1/2" colichemarde blade decorated at the forte with ribbon matrix and serpentine tendril with flower decoration, slightly rubbed. Blade quite crisp. Hilt excellent with a few small bruises. A sword which balances the fashion of the day with very lethal capabilities.
