Rare variant form, unique in our experience. 16" overall with 10 1/4" broad 7 wave blade. Oval guard well chiseled as a feather splay. Tapered wood grip in five bun form stages above tapered brass ferrule. The top three with engraved brass overlays. Matching engraved brass pommel mounted with a standing coin, a British North Borneo cent (1882-1907) with the back polished off and engraved with two dagger or scimitar figures. The figures, probably armorial of one of the sultanates, repeated on the grip base mount. Well-made and wonderful character. Moro pirates dominated the seas in the archipelago and the cultural juxtapositions follow naturally.
