5/8” width. Cast bronze, made by the open face mold technique. Intricately hand detailed representing an inverted crescent with a central column. Typically, the crescent terminals represent Sol the sun and Mani the moon. They flank the column which undoubtedly had multiple meanings based on the universe and cosmos, as Vikings saw it and man’s place in it. The crescent terminals expanded with a dot, perhaps representing an eye. The lower partings with stipple decorated panel. Viking worship involved the heavenly bodies on which they relied for guidance when sailing. Excellent for the period with the gold overlay restored, and modern ring for wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
