300 BC - 200 AD. 7 1/8" length. Forged of one piece with curved wedge section blade, with the edge particularly well preserved. Spiral twist grip which may have been leather wrapped originally and side facing broad loop terminal. Iconic form of which a handful are preserved in museums and widely replicated, mostly with fantasy embellishments by modern smiths. This example purchased in Sweden years ago, is the only of its type we have encountered outside a museum.
