The hilt of dha form, entirely sheathed in relief embossed brass with hoof from the pommel. The butt with deep relief embossed seated deity. The balance decorated throughout in foliage hatched panels and dancing figures. 45 ½” overall. 26 ½” curved s.e. blade with triple projections to the back, shows original forged and burnished finish with light gray patina. Brass shows good age color with few tiny bruises, negligible for the period. One of a pair which we sold in 2008 and recent reacquired. We know of one other pair matching. They have been identified as both palace guard and temple guard swords. As those institutions were inseparable, both may be considered correct. Very impressive.
