Classic as served in the Revolution. This example probably American made utilizing an imported, 26 1/2" blade as was the custom. See Neumann 80.S for a very similar example identified as American by, among other things, its imported blade from the exact type. As with the Neumann example, the form here follows the European, but is executed in slightly awkward proportions with the quillon being a bit short and the grip base ring ill fitted as made. Hilt shows some minor abrasions with good patina. Grip complete and tight. Blade brown, mostly smooth, with some rust growth toward the point. The edge with some shallow nicks toward the middle.
