Elegant form iron head, removable for transport, with low medial spear point and curvilinear base wing projections. Originally decorated with only traces remaining. Tapered socket with two pairs of side lug projections and integral cheek straps. Round wood haft with five shallow curs below the head, probably indicating battles or tallying time served. The haft with scraped surface rather than sanded indicating early construction, and with minor worm damage. Wonderful overall character and type which would have served in colonial America as well as Northern Europe.
