Brass hilt, probably gilt originally. Heavy fighting guard with hound’s head quillon terminals and boar and stag heads respectively. Rococo pommel with man and woman faces. Wire wrapped grip. 9” d.e. blade with maker’s mark to the forte. The hunting motif of this dagger may be compared to the hunting themed hangers which in fact, were civilian side arms for personal protection, having nothing to do with hunting.
