11th century. Finely forged, 2.90" length. Triangular point on thick tapered bolster. The unique feature is that the base, rather than being barbed to engage flesh upon removal, actually consists of two cusps corresponding to the size of mail rings to prevent its removal after penetrating mail. That feature is unique in our experience and evidently not recorded in literature. Excellent for the period.
