Early 19th century. Accurately modeled after the light cavalry sabers of the Napoleonic Wars with 22 1/2” curved wedge section blade and stirrup form guard. Two ring iron scabbard. Expected age patina throughout. The blade with light edge bruises from use and the scabbard with a few dents. Swords such as this were given to young men, primarily the sons of officers, who were expected to pursue military careers. They were used for practice, informally, and in tottered exercises.
