Style of the 1872 cavalry officer's pattern which is itself, a lightened version of the standard trooper's pattern used in the US, France and other European countries. 32" broad fullered blade numbered at the forte, shows smooth brown patina. Brass hilt distorted and with two short cracks, evidently the result of a roll over which occurs when the horse is shot. Grip complete and excellent. Iron scabbard shows lightly textured brown patina and a few shallow dents.
