British Cut and Thrust Weapons, #19. Iron hilt with saddled back strap and black leather grip made without wire wrap. 35 5/8" curved broad fullered blade marked Woolley, Sargent & Fairfax (Birmingham) along the back. Grip complete with a little wear. Hilt lightly pitted. Blade smooth and crisp with dark patina. Iron scabbard surface rusted with dent/crack near the tip and impacted preventing the blade from full entry. No ordinance, issue or proof marks indicating production for private purchase. May well have served the Confederacy and may be considered a secondary Confederate weapon.
