Dated 1790 and surely serving through the Napoleonic Wars. Silver plated brass hilt with P form guard and broad langets. Fine diced walnut grip with delicate line and reeded border. 36 1/4" broad and narrow fullered blade with hatched panel and GILL (maker's name) to the forte. The back marked WARANTEED NEVER TO FAIL 1790. Gilt plating substantially intact. Grip excellent. Blade shows dark patina with scattered light pitting. Small area to the right forte just a little heavier. Combining throughout to a fine overall age patina.
