1822 pattern with iron three bar hilt. Silver wire wrapped black leather covered grip. 31 1/4” elegantly curved s.e. blade of fine form and section. The back rounded and the faces slightly convex. Almost surely of fine quality watered steel. Captured or gift blades of excellent quality were sometimes mounted by British officers with battle credentials. This sword, so mounted, has suffered neglect and general deterioration. The blade and hilt are rusted and pitted. The grip covering has mostly perished with the silver wire completely intact. Evidently never cleaned once put in storage, likely in India.
