Polish or Hungarian. 12 ½” slightly curved s.e. blade with long false edge. Decorated with a cluster of arms and drums topped by a turban with feather each side. Below, a standing figure in flamboyant clothes, holding a spear, over SCIEPIO. That name or word is unidentifiable through internet sources. Probably specific to the owner with the meaning now lost. Brass mounted hilt with wood grip faceted in section and with downward peaked pommel in the Eastern/Indopersian taste. Definitely military shown by the decoration and probably a hussar’s side arm. Rare.
