Copper originally gilt, size 5. Low rounded section, tapered in width from 1.7-2.9mm. Vikings were expert metallurgists and knew that alloying copper with tin or zinc would make it more durable, but chose to use pure copper which evidently had a spiritual significance.  Originally gilt, this ring now has a very fine dark mottled patina. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword.
