Civil War production. Standard pattern, Peterson #33. Brass hilt with number to the knuckle bow. The blade with US and 1864 marks, both weak as struck. No maker’s name evident suggesting Ames which used very light markings. Blade shows minor oxidation speckles with rich old finish. Hilt shows dark patina and minor bruises. Leather grip covering and wire wrap complete. Scabbard dark with one dent and a few bruises. Unmistakable Civil War issue in original scabbard.
