7 5/8 medial ridged blade with slightly beveled edges, with bright original finish including some forging texture. Symmetrical grip, the base forming a guard and the top seating the raised edge, medial ridged skull crusher iron pommel. Triple-banded expanded grip. Grip and terminals encased in a single piece of leather with blind stitched side seam. Tapered leather scabbard with knotted tip and banded top with braided eye for the twisted leather arm band. The front with stitched lace clan symbol identifying the owner. Fine patina with uniform gentle use and mottled patina. Dating to the second half of the 19th century when the Tuareg fought French colonialism as well, as supporting the Mad Mahdi against the English and Egyptians.
