Rare. The only actual example we have encountered. Collected by Baptist Missionaries in the late 19th century. Outer hide band through six large European nails or spikes are pierced and secured by the hide backing which is stitched on with hide lace. Hide lace fastener, the size suggesting use on the forearm. One edge with three hide loops, perhaps to attach to another similar band. Dry untouched condition with the spikes rusted. Old penciled numbers to the inside. While a logical outgrowth of the close quarters fighting necessary in those slave raids, we know of no other actual example surviving.
