Type first produced for the French and Indian War and carried in the colonies. See Neumann 106.PA. Blacksmith made, of simple form with double fullered leaf shaped point and butted seam conical socket. The confident folding of the metal, finished with a single hammer blow, at the transition, indicative of the skill of the forger. This is probably the work of a smith who produced these on a regular basis, and accordingly, other examples by his hand are sure to survive, some probably in public collections. 13 1/4" length.
