2 3/8” length of black japanned papier-mâché. The lid inlaid with a pewter border (small loses) and central medallion. Faux bird’s eye maple interior with faint odor of snuff remaining. These were used to carry snuff or pipe tobacco interchangeable. Pewter foil inlay on a black japanned body is the most common construction and takes many forms.
