The blade back with REEVES & CO (worked 1853-63) maker's name. The right side with crowned ordnance mark at the guard and the left with remnants of canceled broad arrow mark indicating it was removed from service and sold as surplus. The blade was repolished with the hilt on which prevented refinishing right to the guard and thus, left the ordnance mark. The blade broken short at 28", likely in battle. Probably had a history, now lost, as it is unlikely to have survived otherwise.
