Unidentified type, probably 19th century. 29 3/4” length with heavy spear point blade and integral tang extending full length with the edges exposed. Multiple riveted wood segments forming the haft, inlet in three areas for securing bands long gone with the exposed wood matching in patina. Two small pieces of the wood lacking. The blade marked HOLTZAPFFEL & CO LONDON, recorded 1793-1930 as makers of precision tools, machines as well as weapons including bowie knives and kukris. Dating to the Opium Wars period, this may be a weapon produced for the Chinese market.
