19th century. 24 3/4" length. Male bamboo with flared mouth. Originally mounted with a saddle for bowl, and converted to a bronze bowl and stem at the end. Presumably, the added length cooled the vapor better allowing for more fulsome indulgence. Untouched condition. Ex: Christie’s Scotland, Arms & Armour, Dec. 4, 1985, lot 32.
