Late 19th century. 26 1/8” elegant single edged blade with single barrow filler. Thickened edge oval iron guard with mottled brass overlaid face. Hoof form iron pommel. Original blue lace wrapped grip. A classic example of the Ox-Tailed sword or Niuweidao of the late Qing Dynasty period. Well preserved with expected finger spotting to the blade and oxidation to the hilt mounts.
