Provincial example. 11 1/2" length with 8" quadrangular section blade tapered through its length with olive form decoration at the forte. Elongated diamond form guard. Fine horn grip of swelled form, spirally fluted with the raised segments line bordered and set with white metal, probably zinc, piques. A few small, worn over chips or bug nips to the horn. Just on tiny pique lacking. Classic personal protection weapon from the turbulent 18th century and probably the only weapon its owner possessed.
