Custom made for this weapon and not adapted from a sword. Fine wire wrapped sharkskin covered grip. Down turned cross guard. 15 3/8” blade with long rectangular forte finely engraved respectively with a boar and stag in forest scene. The panels lined in gold inlay and the figures in heavy gold. The engraving done by a gun engraver to the highest standard and in the sporting gun taste. The balance of the blade of wedge section with long false edge. Blade with gently cleaned light pitting as expected for use at sea and not affecting the decoration. Proportions as favored by Scots and likely the dirk of a Scottish officer in the Royal Navy. Unique.
