Brass hilt of English M.1829 form with knuckle bow and double side bars (outer bar slightly bent in), stepped pommel on integral back strap. Thick twisted wire wrapped black horn grip. 25" curved broad fullered s.e. blade, unmarked, in original blade seat. Iron scabbard complete and undented, shows some smooth finish with mostly light to medium pitting. Blade shows smooth gray patina. Rare example following Waterloo by a generation and probably made for the European Revolutions of 1848 which began in France and resulted in the death of tens of thousands.
