Narrow, flat faced band, size 8. 18.0mm inner diameter. Band is 3.2mm wide. Vikings exchanged rings on the pommel of the groom’s sword. It is thought that Viking warriors wore narrow rings to minimize interference with the grip of their weapons. Archaeologically undecided at this point but with abundant examples representing Vikings at pastoral pursuits, and raiding, clarity may be expected in the next few years. Fine patina. Professionally refurbished with the silver overlay restored for modern wear. Gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
