19th century. 29 1/8" slender wedge section blade with shallow recurved form edge. Elaborately chiseled and brass inlaid in traditional motifs with interwoven roped bands. The back figured from the midpoint with the last recess becoming the long false edge. Wood hilt sheathed in brass, in the form of a stylized beast. The faceted grip in open work scrolls and the bottom third of matching form and motifs in iron. Crisp condition with fine medium age patina throughout. Exceptional example. The Kabyles successfully prevented Ottoman conquest by bringing the battles to the Atlas Mountains.
