Classic early example with heave wedge section s.e. blade, 9 5/8" length. Long false edge with scallop behind. The hilt deeply relief carved as a stylized animal head and overlaid in sheet brass tooled in panels (about 30% lacking). Two piece wood scabbard carved in hounds tooth and diamond bands, secured with four iron rings. Shows great age throughout. The blade with gray patina and frosty light pitting. Used to break chain mail which was worn through that period.
