This gauntlet with its elegantly concave conical cuff may be seen as transitional from the Gothic to fluted or Maximillian style. It is finely formed with four dimpled edge metacarpal plates and four shaped finger plates, joined with the conjoined pyramidal knuckle plate. It is distinguished by retaining its original liner band to the finger tips and full leather liner to the thumb. It may be dated with accuracy by comparison to a pair of gauntlets in the painting "Still Life with Partridge and Gauntlets" by Jacopo de Barbari, dated 1504, now hanging in the Alte Pinakothek Museum, Munich.
