10 ½” height of elegant form. The deeply curved brim with rolled edge and sunk border. Almond shaped skull with fine long curved “pear stalk” terminal. The base of the skull with brass rosettes centering iron rivets. Brass plume holder secured with matching rosettes. Decorated through out in the Pisan manner with acanthus foliage to the brim. The skull with central foliate and ancient military figure panel each side flanked by foliage and portrait panels. Dark patina throughout and laminate evidence of its wrought iron construction. A helmet of iconic form which originally would have comprised a part of a three quarter armor decorated throughout to match. Examples of this type are represented in every major museum collection of arms and armor throughout the world.
