Morocco, 19th century. Superior quality example in exceptional preservation. 49 1/4" .70 cal octagonal barrel, finely forged with evidence of damascus twist and three pseudo European maker's marks. Iron snaphaunce lock of characteristic form, with engraved brass inlaid panels. Wood full stock, the flared butt of built up segments. Brass barrel bands, the front with a bayonet mount. That feature unique in our experience. Iron ramrod from a French musket, undoubtedly captured. Exceptional condition throughout. The stock excellent with a few small splinters to the right edge. Metal excellent and crisp.
