Thirty Years' War period. Iron, 11 3/4” height. The skull, with medial ridge flanked by lines forged from one piece. Visors and bevor with common pivots. Lower visor pierced both sides with a radial cluster of breaths. The skull base and bevor each with a single rolled edge neck plate. The edges with rows of rivets formerly securing the leather liner bands inside. Leather perished, but each rivet peened slightly above the parent metal with traces of the leathers in the voids. Uniform chocolate brown patina and medium pitting overall. Probably stored in a town arsenal for three centuries and perhaps brought back after WWII.
