This dagger was used to parry with a rapier in the right hand. Its proportions reflect the Italian taste while its pierced hilt elements suggest a French origin. The blade is specifically designed for thrusting identifying it as an offensive weapon in contrast to earlier forms which were used largely to defend from an opponents thrust. 13 1/4" length blade.
