6 3/8” leaf shaped blade with thickened ricasso, one side with lightly engraved brass overlay. Oval fighting guard. Ribbed black horn grip with silver (?) base ferrule bearing a maker’s mark. Well used and in typical Mediterranean condition with the horn showing insect damage and the blade rusted. It’s said that the knife is the sword in Italy. This example dates to a period when every man carried a knife and knew how to defend himself with it.
