RARE VIKING FIELD ANVIL, 10th-11th CENTURY AD

Forged iron, 3 3/4” (3.82”) length. Waisted form upper decorated both sides with a punched scale motifs. Integral tapered spike below. The spike was drivel into a log or tree and the blade edge hammered against to top. Considerable effects of use in its working life.
