Late 19th century. Based on the traditional Lapp dagger, this example is hand produced in a cottage industry. Later examples dating about 1900 were commercially produced to uniform standards. 4 1/2" clipped point hand forged blade, tool finished mixed with a little forging texture. Swelled form grip of stacked leather layers with metal terminals. The leather slightly age shrunk producing a ribbed surface. Hand stitched tooled leather scabbard with minor wear.
